Criminal Justice/Behavioral Health Treatment Interface Webinar Series – Trueblood Contempt Fine Projects
(from event page) WA State HCA’s Criminal Justice-Behavioral Health Interface webinar series is intended to inform, educate and coordinate resources for individuals with mental health and substance use disorders who may have involvement in the legal system. This webinar series is designed for anyone interested in increasing their understanding of the legal system, programs, services and resources that promotes recovery in the lives of people with behavioral health disabilities.
May’s webinar will focus on the projects funded by the contempt fines under the Trueblood Lawsuit. Trueblood is an active lawsuit that challenged unconstitutional delays in competency evaluation and restoration. In 2016, the Court ordered that some of the contempt fine money be used to fund programs that divert class members from the criminal justice system. This webinar will provide an overview of those projects.
