(from email announcement) The COVID-19 pandemic presents unique challenges for youth struggling with substance use or in recovery. What trends have you seen among the youth you work with? How have you been able to pivot services to continue to engage youth and screen for substance use?

Join us on Oct. 20, 3:30-4:30 p.m. (ET), for “Youth SBIRT and Substance Use During COVID-19,” a peer-led discussion with Sharon Levy, MD, MPH, director of Adolescent Substance Use and Addiction Program, Boston Children’s Hospital, and associate professor in Pediatrics at Harvard Medical School; Laurie McMahon, nurse practitioner and Laura Stanley, behavioral consultant, both of MHC Healthcare.

We hope you join us to:

  • Discuss substance use trends during COVID-19 and the importance of youth screening, brief intervention and referral to treatment (YSBIRT) practices, guided by our field-informed standardized guide.
  • Hear lessons learned from MHC Healthcare’s adaption of telehealth efforts to engage youth in conversations and build trust.
  • Share experiences on navigating operational barriers to implementing YSBIRT.
  • Cover other topics raised by you!
