OUR COMMITTEES

Esther Lucero is the Chief Executive Officer of the Seattle Indian Health Board, delivering health care services to the American Indian and Alaska Native community. She serves on the Governor’s Health Innovation Leadership Network and on the American Indian Health Commission’s Executive Committee. She has also served as a member of the Interim Leadership Council and Co-Chair of the HealthierHere Governing Board.

Kyle Schierbeck is a Standing Rock Lakota tribe member and serves as Board Chair and Co-Founder of Unkítawa, a nonprofit committed to protecting our land, water and air; sponsoring Indigenous Peoples’ cultural, spiritual and ceremonial activities; and rebalancing efforts to give back at least as much as we take.

Leanne Berge is Chief Executive Officer of Community Health Plan of Washington/Community Health Network of Washington (CHPW/CHNW). Prior to this, she served in numerous executive leadership roles at the Commonwealth Care Alliance, Network Health, and Harvard Pilgrim Health Care.

Dr. Kristin L. Conn is a practicing Family Practitioner of Kaiser Permanente of Washington. Prior to joining Kaiser, she served as a clinician and Associate Medical Director at the St. John’s Well Child and Family Center, a Federally Qualified Health Center serving patients in Central and South Los Angeles and Compton.

Dr. Jeffrey Foti is the Medical Director for Care Coordination at Seattle Children’s Hospital (SCH). He is a board-certified pediatrician and also serves as the Director of SCH Hospital Medicine Regional Programs and as consultant for SCH’s Clinical Effectiveness Team.

Patty Hayes serves as the Director of Public Health, Seattle & King County, playing a key role in numerous initiatives including King County’s Best Starts for Kids, Communities of Opportunity, Familiar Faces, Physical & Behavioral Health Integration, the Heroin and Opiate Task Force, among others. She was a member of the Interim Leadership Council.

Victor Loo (he/him) is the President and CEO of Seattle Counseling Service (SCS). Founded in 1969, SCS is proud to be the oldest LGBTQIA + focused mental health agency. SCS is a valued partner in our community for their dedicated commitment to the King County LBGTQIA+ community and is a long-standing provider of behavioral health care in King County. He has expertise in the provision, supervision, and management of behavioral health services/social services. He is 1 of the 25 national leaders in the SAMHSA-HRSA Center for Integrated Health Solutions (CIHS)’s Addressing Health Disparities Leadership Program, and 1 of the 15 national leaders in the National Council for Behavioral Health’s Healthy Youth Leadership Institute. He is a member of the King County Integrated Care Network Finance Committee. He is a board member representing the Behavioral Health sector in HealthierHere King County Governing Board, its Co-Chair and on its Executive Committee.

Tricia Madden serves as Director of Pioneer Square Downtown Programs at Harborview Medical Center. In this role, she works with numerous community partners including Seattle King County Public Health, DESC, Plymouth Housing, Catholic Community Services, Sound Mental Health, FQHCs and our Managed Care Organizations.

Daniel is the Executive Director of Downtown Emergency Service Center. He serves as board member of All Home and is involved in numerous community efforts including the Mental Health Providers Association, the Housing Development Consortium, the Heroin and Opiate Addiction Task Force, the Familiar Faces Steering Committee and the Physical and Behavioral Health Design Committee.

Nwando Audrey Anyaoku is Executive Medical Director for Pediatrics at Swedish Medical Center. Nwando has also served on numerous boards including NeighborCare Health, United Way of Essex and West Hudson in New Jersey, the Let’s Move Newark Youth Policy Board and the Nestle/Newark Partnership to Fight Childhood Obesity.

Mario Paredes serves as Executive Director of Consejo Counseling and Referral Service. Consejo has provided behavioral health services to the Latino community in Washington State for nearly four decades.

Leo Flor serves as King County’s Director of the Department of Community and Human Services. Prior to this, he led the Executive Office’s plan to renew and expand the Veterans, Seniors and Human Services levy and served on the King County Public Defense Advisory Board.

Semra Riddle is an elected councilmember from the City of Lake Forest Park. Delegate for Board member Erin Sitterley (Councilmember, City of SeaTac, Sound Cities Association), who resigned from the Board in January 2020.

Jeff Sakuma is the Health Integration Strategist for the City of Seattle in the Department of Human Services. Prior work experience includes at Youthcare, Northwest AIDS Foundation, and Group Health Cooperative, and on the boards of People of Color Against AIDS Network, Bailey-Boushay House and Planned Parenthood of the Great Northwest and Hawaiian Islands. Jeff was a member of the Interim Leadership Council.

Steve Daschle is the Executive Director of Southwest Youth and Family Services, an organization providing mental health, youth violence prevention, education, family support and youth development services. He has served as co-chair of the Seattle Human Services Coalition, on the strategy team of the King County Alliance for Human Service, and as member of the Interim Leadership Council.

Ceil Erickson is the Director of Community Programs at The Seattle Foundation. Prior to this, she worked at Planned Parenthood of Western Washington and Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center. She currently serves on the board of School’s Out Washington and is co-chair of the Statewide Capacity Collaborative to support local nonprofits.

Cathy Knight is the Director of the Division of Aging and Disability Services (ADS) in the City of Seattle Human Services Department. Through the City’s partnership with the King County Department of Community and Human Services and Public Health—Seattle & King County, ADS is also the designated Area Agency on Aging (AAA) for Seattle-King County. In that role, ADS plans, coordinates, and advocates for a comprehensive service delivery system for older adults, family caregivers and people with disabilities in King County. Cathy previously served as the State Director for the Washington Association of Area Agencies on Aging (W4A).

Betsy Lieberman is a leadership consultant with former leadership experience in non-profit community clinic and housing and social service sectors. Prior to this, she was the founding Executive Director of Building Changes and former long-term care program developer for Seattle-King County’s AIDS Health Services program. Betsy served as a member on the Interim Leadership Council.

Michael is Executive Director of the Hepatitis Education Project, which serves people at risk for or living with viral hepatitis, with a focus on disproportionately impacted communities. Michael also serves as President of the World Hepatitis Alliance and on numerous community boards.

Giselle Zapata-Garcia currently serves as Co-Chair of Latinos Promoting Good Health, a collaborative partnership that strives to improve the health of communities in Washington State. She has dedicated over 20 years to working with the community to assist them in navigating the health care system, connecting them to resources and advocacy.

Yusuf Bashir is the Executive Director of Falis Community Services, an organization serving the Somali Bantu community in Kent and South Seattle. Falis Community Services has been an active partner of HealthierHere and work in collaboration with the South King County Health Coalition and Living Well Kent.

Roi-Martin currently works with Washington Community Action Network on health and healthcare issues related to increasing strategic community participation between citizens. He serves as a Family Support Worker in Seattle Public Schools and has been an active participant of HealthierHere’s Community/Consumer Voice Committee.

Shelley Cooper-Ashford is the Executive Director of the Center for MultiCultural Health and a member of the Health King County Coalition. She has been involved in many community initiatives including Racial and Ethnic Approaches to Community Health, National Black Leadership in Cancer, Seattle Partners for Community Health, among others. She was a member of the Interim Leadership Council.
